Fall Self Care Activities

Updated: Sep 20, 2020

Being that I am a fall baby, its no wonder Autumn is my favorite time of year. The lightly fogged air in the mornings as the sun rises, the crunch of the leaves beneath your feet, the overwhelmingly beautiful landscapes you encounter. It's a beautiful time of year. With so many wonderful activities that come with this season, there are many ways to incorporate them into your self care plan. One thing we can do is to take from a holiday that is specific to this time of year, Thanksgiving. A tradition around the table is to acknowledge what we are thankful for. A great thing to add to your routine is, upon waking up, state something or someone you are grateful for. Speak it into the universe and allow yourself to absorb that truth, because sometimes we can get caught up in our downfalls or missteps, that we forget to be thankful the things that are going right or help balance out the negative. It is important to have balance.

You can also add some fun downtime activities to get into the fall mood. Pop some popcorn, throw on the comfiest sweatpants and fuzzy socks you own, dim the lights and light a few fall scented candles to set the mood (Pumpkin, Apple Cinnamon, Vanilla Chai come to mind). If you're anything like me, you can watch fall themed movies that's spooky (not gory) or nostalgic. The point is to set the vibe for a relaxing and comforting night. This may be become your new favorite fall comfort or activity to share with family or friends.

My last option is one that is near and dear to my soul. Try out a new recipe for a comfort food or fall dish/dessert. I'm talking turkey chili, pasta faggioli, beef stew, apple crisp, peach cobbler, apple cider, pumpkin waffles etc. Measuring ingredients and jamming out to my favorite playlist just calm my spirits so much. And nothing makes the experience more complete, than enjoying the delicious result in the end.

Take on this fall season with a sense of ownership. Nature is providing us with tons of beauty, harvest and tools that we can use to make self care a little more warm and cozy!
